Starbucks for a Date?
Starbucks for a date? Are you kidding me? I’ve had this discussion several times with some of my friends and believe it or not all agree with me. We all know dating can be financially costly for one or both of the people. The one big disagreement I have is who is responsible for the costs of the date. Here’s the facts. The average cost of a dinner date can be anywhere from $50-$100 per couple. That doesn’t include the movie tickets, drinks if you go out, or the cover charge if you want to dance at a club. All of these are normal activities that woman will admit they want to do on a 1st or 2nd date. Would this make a fun date, of course. Am I a cheap date? Some would like to think so.

But my personal opinion is a bit different. Yes, I do enjoy all of these activities. I like to go out with a date that I know I’m going to enjoy their company and have plenty of common interests. I have always thought it was a waste of time and money to go out with someone only to find out you really don’t like them half way through the date. I’m sure it’s happened to you too. I’ve been very creative to find ways to have my first few dates with someone with out investing too much money. All of which are less than $20. Starbucks is one of them, getting a glass of wine, happy hour after work, going to the mall, or possibly going to play darts. Just so that everyone knows, after I get to know someone, I enjoy going to dinner. I enjoy going to play pool, bowling, watching movies, hanging out, sitting on the patio drinking wine, watching my favorite sports team, and maybe cooking at home. And trust me, spending a few hours with me doing any of these things just means you and I have a connection.

I am sure you know that some women go on a date with a sole purpose of getting a free dinner. So, I guess, your advice works, meaning by inviting your date to meet you at Starbucks you eliminate those who are only there to get free food before you even meet them and only go out with those who are legitimately interested in meeting YOU, not your pocket book.

You are so spot on! My last date was for a coffee. He really wanted to do lunch. I don’t want to feel guilty or obligated if we don’t click.
He was nice and smart but the physical chemistry wasn’t there at all, and that’s important. We parted ways and all he lost out on was the $1.50 for my coffee that he insisted on paying for. Remember girls—users are losers!
