There is life after divorce

11 March 2008 2 Comments

Tonight I met a couple friends for dinner at Boston’s.  Just a casual dinner and great conversation.  I met MC40 during the summer.  She’s a brown haired, green eyed,  French-Canadian beauty.  She’s 5′7″ tall a vivacious smile, outgoing personality and a great figure.  She refers to me as sensei.  I was her first interracial experience, she’s quick to admit.  We always had in-depth discussions on life after divorce.  We’ve gone out a few times, but we’re mainly friends now.  Nigel, a 50 year old, 6′3″ newly single black male was there.  This is the first time I’ve met Nigel.  The last time I saw MC40 was in November, so we needed to catch up on each other’s life.  She’s a lot more comfortable with herself since her divorce.  She seems much happier than previously.  We discussed work projects, school, family, and even this website.  Our topic of conversation shifted to dating and the social scene in Dallas.  hagning outI’ve been living in Dallas for close to 20 years, so I was able to give some advice on how to meet other single people.  It’s interesting, how we are 3 different single people with 3 different approaches to dating.  We all have tried online dating, with different results.  Nigel is a self proclaimed introvert and MC40 compared herself to me as an extrovert.  I’ve always found it easy to meet people just by going out with friends and being social.  It’s evident by sitting there, we are all at 3 different stages of being divorced and single.  Nigel is exploring his dating options by getting out and meeting new friends.  He’s learning what the Dallas night life has to offer.  MC40 has become comfortable with being divorced.  She says she has her own ‘posse’.   Her social group has grown so much in the last six months.  She now has found her own niche of friends, activities, and events to keep her busy.  Of course, I’m just being me.  I’m dating more.  I’m working more.  I’m having plenty of fun and enjoying every minute of it.
