Thursday evening I hung out with Nigel for a while.  We started at Blue Fish in Dallas.  Of course they have a good happy hour crowd.  It seemed like it was a over 30 crowd .  There were plenty of great looking people there, but it was a bit slow.  I’m thinking the slowing economy has something to do with it.  We spent about a hour having a couple drinks and watching NBA playoff games. 

After that, we decided to go over to 3 Forks to have a drink with one of my close friends.  I quickly realized, she had the evening off.  So we decided to go our separate ways.  I remembered that AW37 had invited me out for drinks at Varsity in Frisco.  So I drove out there.  Varsity is a small sports bar on the west side of Frisco.  I sat at the bar, because they weren’t there yet.  I began to chat with a couple sitting next to me.  They were hilarious.  The woman was giving me a hard time because I’m at the bar alone.  A few minutes later AW37 calls to tell me she is about 5 minutes away.  When AW37 she gave me a hug and introduced me to one of her friends.  I wasn’t able to shake her hand because I had a chicken wing in my hand.  So I stayed at the bar to finish my last few wings.  AW37 informed me that her car broke down and her friend had to drive to downtown Dallas to pick her up.  When I got to the table, her friend was a bit testy because I didn’t shake her hand.  I had to ignore that.  So here is where the evening gets interesting.  Her friend began to give me the 20 question treatment.  Now for all you new readers, I hate this approach.  I’d rather you hold a regular conversation so that you can get to know me.  So about 10 questions into the interrogation, she asked me if I had any questions for her.  I told her no.  She seemed shocked.  So I had to explain the concept of conversation.  Basically, I told her if we just spend a few minutes talking you will know about who I am, what I do for fun, if I have a sense of humor, and what type of guy I am.  She tried to be a smart ass, she asked “what do you know about me?”.  So I told her she was a loyal friend, because she drove 25 miles one way to pick up AW37 when her car broke down.  I also told her she was married with out kids and loved to be the center of attention.  She was shocked I got all of that from the first 5 minutes.  So I told her I learn more about people by listening than talking.  Well that pissed her off.  Haha.  Her next comment to me was, ‘watch out.. I’m very influencial’.  I began to realize that this woman just wanted to be included.  She wanted to feel like she was needed.  Eventually, I she realized that I’m not affected by what she thinks of me.  I left her frustrated and irritated.  So as we were leaving, I called her over and gave her a big hug.  I whispered in her hear, “it’s nice to meet you and AW37 is very lucky to have such a great friend like you”.  She was shocked and smiled.  AW37 thought I was on her friends bad side, but it was the exact opposite.  The fact is I’m not dating her friends, we don’t have to like each other, but we can respect each other.  Sometimes a woman’s friend will attempt to sabotage your budding  relationship just to make themselves feel important.  Of course this is also known as the Cock Block.
