For years I’ve heard about Europe from my friends. I’ve always been told it’s such a open minded culture. I think I might have to explore that option soon. I’ve been told by several people that interracial relationships thrive in the European cultures. From what I’ve heard, traveling from country to country is similar to traveling from state to state. I can only imagine being in the UK and riding a train for a couple hours and be in a totally different country. A country with totally different social views. It has to be amazing. I recently found out that Great Brittan has the highest number of interracial couples in the world. I began to wonder why. So I found a this video to give me some insight.
The biggest difference that I’ve heard, is they are open minded. It seems that Europe has been a melting pot for decades. It appears that people from several continents migrate to Europe. I’m surprised by the number of Africans and West Indians in Europe. I was also surprised by their population in Canada. Both seem to have one thing in common, the acceptance of interracial relationships.
I was watching the Jefferson’s a few weeks ago. The discussion was on the Willis’ older, bi-racial son going to live in Europe because of their relaxed views on race. One can only imagine, but that was in the 1970′s. That’s almost 30 years ago. Are we, Americans, that far behind in acceptance?
I’ve heard stories from people that are in the military stationed in Germany. The white women pursue the black soldiers aggressively. Why? To move and increase their quality of life in America. I know that the women want citizenship, but that’s no different from American women being gold diggers. If the only thing they want from me is companionship and citizenship, how is that different from the American gold digger?
Is it wrong to marry for citizenship? Would you marry to gain citizenship, increase your quality of life and move to another country? Is it that simple or does the idea of true love cloud our judgement?
Post your comments, I’d like to hear your thoughts. .
