I get the eye shift all the time! It cracks me up. People will tell me, "You don't look like you date black guys." What does a white girl, that dates black guys, look like? What, am I only supposed to listen to rap music, be white trash, live in a trailer, not have all my teeth? I don't get it. It may just be the area where I live, I don't really know. I just know it amazes me the way some people think & the things they say. I love to tell them, "Where do you think I got that black ass baby from?" or "I'm really black, by injection!" lol... So you ask what is more acceptable ... dating interacically or dating someone out of ur age group. Of the top of my head i would say age is more tabooed than interracial. Of course interracial acceptance also depends on how different the two partners are. Different races are percieved differently as to how they would behave in a marriage and this sometimes can have a very negative response with your friends and family. For example ... my parents of course would prefer me to marry someone of asian background and preferably Chinese or Indonesian. But they also know .. that i have never really dated one ... nor would really consider it .. and so are accepting that i may end up with someone of European background or whatever. Like "ohhh word? hmmm that's good....I guess" I came back home from a college program over the summer and with me brought my new gf who happened to live in the same neighborhood, we just never had met b4. My friends knew her and all had shifty eyes when they found out.
