Wow, this is the 1st week in a long time I feel like I’ve been on a emotional roller coaster.? It started on Monday.? Dirt Bike Boy has a problem with his teacher and ended up suspended for 2 days.? At first I was irritated.? I couldn’t believe my child was being so difficult.? I couldn’t believe that he wouldn’t follow directions from his teacher.? He needed to be punished and he was.? By Wednesday I understood what was going on.? I received a phone call from the principal to let me know that his teacher was going to be replaced.? Hallelujah!? I wasn’t the only parent who had problems with this teacher.? I have to admit that replacing a elementary teacher during the school year is unprecedented.? But I believe it’s the right decision.? When I inquired on the specifics, the company line was – “she has issues at home that doesn’t allow her to remain focused on the children and we feel that it’s best for all parties involved that she doesn’t teach.”
I can’t say how relieved I was.? I was given a personal invite to meet the new teacher.? Wow, what a change of events.? More importantly, Dirt Bike Boy seemed happy also.
Of course, the other exciting part of the week is the election.? It started out as a nervous event and ended with great joy.? The only sad part is there have been so many sore losers.? I use the word loser because that’s how people feel when their candidate doesn’t have victory speech.? What has happened to good sportsmanship?? Isn’t that what we teach our kids?? Go out and fight as hard as you can.? If you lose, shake hands, and try harder next time.? So why is there such bad sportsmanship in politics?
Another event was the phone call I received last night.? Alpha Boy called to say that he made the basketball team.? He’s excited that he will probably be a starter on the “A” team.? He’s so proud that all of his work over the summer has paid off.? He’s so competitive and hates to lose.? I see so much of myself in him every day.? Alpha Boy and I also had a brief conversation about Dirt Bike Boy.? He told me that he remembers how much I helped him in school when he needed it.? He says Dirt Bike Boy is learning that Dad will protect and help him anytime/any place.? At that moment, I felt like a proud Dad.
The last event was last night.? I went out for drinks with MB & Rasheed.? We had a good time for a few hours.? I have to admit that Rasheed was late, but he was on CPT.? (colored peoples time)? I had to give him a hard time because he feel asleep when he said he was on the way.? haha? I can’t hate on him for working too hard.? The night was entertaining.? I wasn’t attempting to meet anyone new.? I just wanted to get out and make fun of a few drunks or the girl that was wearing a dress from 1983.? I even got a few laughs from the young brotha that was hitting on the old? woman who couldn’t figure out how to work the ATM.? It’s funny how a couple drinks made her look better to him.
So I’m ready for the weekend.? I’m ready to see my Texas Longhorns win.? If any of you have doubts if Texas will be in the BCS Championship game, you’re not a Longhorn fan.? I hate to disappoint you, but we going to battle the rest of the season.
I normally don’t do a week review, but this is a week of firsts.? And I had too much to say before I start on the weekend.? Am I the only one with a crazy and wild week?
