EathanI’m always comparing my teenage years to those of my son Alpha Boy.? I’ve gone through all the list of things that I remember.? I always think of girls and sex being the biggest topic of discussion.? It’s not.? The reason is, when talking about sex it requires another willing person.? Do I think he can talk his way into a girl friend and/or sex?? I have no doubt that he could.? But I’ve prepared him for that.? The other thing that I think about is drinking.? I remember being in high school.? Friday night after the football game everyone would go to a party and drink beer.? It was the cool thing to do.? Or so most of the kids thought.? I never liked beer, so I didn’t get caught up in any of the beer drinking.? It was my senior year of high school when I had my first Crown & coke.? Wow.? That was some drink.? I never gave it much thought because my parents would drink a cocktail from time to time.
What alarms me now is what kids are trying now-a-days.? They are becoming chemists, scientists and very innovative.? They still drink beer, they still drink liquor and they still party.? There’s a catch.? They are becoming creative on how they do it.? I was watching a TV show, The Drs,? on this issue and it’s hard for me to describe what I saw.? So I’ll let you watch it and figure it out.
Vodka soaked Tampons!!! Anal Beer Bongs???? Are you kidding?? Not just no..but Hell No!? I did a quick google search and I found a long list of pages. This is very popular among teens.? I have to admit that I have associated this practice with upper middle class white kids.? I just don’t imagine that the black community would embrace this.? I could be wrong, but I doubt it.
Immediately I remember the effect of two Crown & cokes did to me at age 16.? The problem with these tampons is, they can hold several ounces of alcohol.? That’s a dangerous combination for teens.? The medical experts say, this method will allow the alcohol to by pass the liver.? Besides this being a totally disgusting idea, this makes it twice as dangerous/deadly as any cocktail I had.? And the list of other health risks involved are endless.
Now I don’t want to think about Alpha Boy attempting to try this, but just in case I might have to add this to one of our father son discussions.? I’m debating if this will fall into the sex chat or the don’t do drugs chat.? Usually we only discuss one topic at a time.? Maybe this one requires a combo chat.
Am I the only one that saw this show?? Have you heard of Vodka Soaked Tampons or Anal Beer Bongs?? Is this popular in the white or black community?? I hope it’s doesn’t become popular in the IR community.

This is just wrong in so many ways! I can see the cases of toxic shock syndrome going up because women are too drunk (not to mention too stupid) to remember they have a tampon in. Also, I can’t imagine the effects on the delicate tissues. I’ll have to pass on the new fad! A beer enema doesn’t sound fun either. WHY?? WHY are people doing this? Certainly it’s an urban legend!

I have NEVER in my life heard of any of that – EVER! I am kinda shocked about it actually! LOL maybe then its an American thing? Well I can hope so anyway

I’ve never heard of either, but I have heard (and seen) some disgusting stuff in college, so I believe it. I coach high schoolers so maybe I’ll ask around and see what’s going on…oh wait, I can’t do that AT ALL.

Wow, never heard of that. I have a 17-year-old kid–we talk about a lot of stuff, but he might be too embarrassed to mention these particular fads to me.
He hangs with a pretty popular, yet studious, group of kids. I don’t have much suspicion that there’s a lot of drinking going on with them, let alone absorption of alcohol in this manner.
I actually take a European approach to drinking with him. He is allowed to have a glass of wine now and then at home during nice dinners or the holidays. Our state allows minors to drink if accompanied by parents, so he has been to the occasional wine tasting and has had wine at restaurants. I keep my liquor in an open area, and he knows I know exactly how much is there, should he or his friends decide to imbibe. He now turns up his nose at fruity mixed drinks and beer and has developed a bit of a snobby attitude about wine. I’d rather have him lean this way than drink indiscriminately to get drunk.
He’s very responsible and knows he has earned his drinking privileges. He also knows the consequences if he’s caught drinking outside of our watch (grounding and loss of driving). I don’t think it will be an issue, because he’s a very mature kid.

That is craziness! I have never heard of such a thing but it doesn’t surprise me too much. I have seen my fair share of disgusting things when I was in college. I am going to have to ask around this weekend while I’m hanging out on Boston University’s campus to see what’s going on with that.
That would be perfect to see some video responses!

ok 1.) My daughter is staying 2 years old FOREVER! and 2.) This is something I found: a popular song released in 2003 called ?Band Camp? by Georgia folk singer and song-writer Vic Chesnutt (In the song, Chesnutt details a teenage infatuation , and tells of a girl getting drunk by wearing to school a vodka-soaked tampon: ?Once you soaked a tampon in some serious vodka, wore it to school, second period science lab, you feel right off your stool.?) UGH. it just sounds painful despite any good effects/buzz that might result.
