As the title suggest Quantum of Solace leaves Bond, David Craig, to find time for comfort through revenge of his lost loves death.? The opening scene is a sensual one with women writing in grains of sand to the sirenic sounds of Alicia Keys and Jack White singing Another Way to Die.
A door left open
A woman walking by
A drop in the water
A look in the eye
A phone on the table
A man on your side
Oh, someone that you think that you can trust
Is just Another way to die
The song tells a tale of the double agent business and the business of love.? While Bond travels through Sienna, Italy, to Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, Bolivia and Austria, he runs into new and old enemies.? He also tries to romance a few women.? Bond’s personal mission to revenge Vespa’s death is sidetracked while he runs into Dominic Greene of Greene Planet.? Greene desires to misuse his ties to a former Bolivian dictator to swindle him out of some natural resources and cheat the government out of money through filthy contracts.? During his personal mission he had uncovered Greene’s real intentions and struggles to keep his boss’s trust.? This Bond movie packs as much action as can be expected (along the same setup as previous Bond movies) where he pursues the bad guys driving an Aston Martin or chasing them on foot.? A saucy redheaded agent comes along to try to deter Bond from his personal mission.? In an escape effort, a Bolivian beauty pulls up in a car & Bond can’t resist her accent as she says, “Get in!”? I think the instant attraction was there for the two of them.? She had secret missions of her own to get revenge for her family.
What initially attracts us to someone of a different background?? What is the sticking power of a relationship if someone is of a different background or culture?? How do we view trust in a relationship that starts off with such an attraction based on our painful similarities in our past but our distinct cultural variations?
