I’m a nurse. Yeah, there are rules. Your entire family are clients. The “only the patient is off limits” idea is no longer current practice. If she was willing to risk flirting with you, that’s significant. You are positive she was flirting, right? It wasn’t just a “wow, what a super sweet dad” thing? In any event, she should not pursue you and if she does, I’d be wary. It’s not okay. You, on the other hand, are totally free to give her a thank you at or following discharge and ask her to call you, if she’s available and interested. I wouldn’t include that in a note to other staff, but if she is not there when you bring in the thank you, ask one of the nurses you do know to make sure she gets it. If she is interested in you, some of the staff already know it.

When I worked in a hospital, patients brought me little gifts from time to time.

If you only had a couple of nurses working in your son’s room, you could get them each a little box of chocolates with a thank you note (make sure the notes stay attached). Just add a lil’ somethin’ extra in the note to the nurse you like.

Otherwise you’ll have to have one of your friends pass her a note in math class and see if she just likes you or if she LIKES you likes you. LOL

I'm sorry to hear about your son, but this story about the nurse is a good one. In my experience, slipping a woman a note doesn't work. You have to get her number so you can pursue her. I think it's good to wait till your son is past the critical stage. I also wouldn't initiate contact while the ex was around. Now then, not wishing harm on anyone, I need an excuse to get myself into a hospital and check your theory out for myself. dadshouses last blog post..Online Dating Sucks
