Tanning here is like a cool thing to do – so you do it even if you dont want to tan!

LOL doesnt really make sense but alot of girls do it cos they are at the beach and thats what you do!

That’s interesting. I will admit to using sunscreen. I use it, Alpha Boy uses it and even my mother uses it. We get dark easily and we burn twice as easy. Alpha Boy learned that tough lesson 2 yrs ago. He had a nice sunburn after spending the day at the lake.

Try SPF30. It works nicely.

It’s the act of tanning? Does that mean it’s relaxing or meditating therapy to tan? I’ve never understood it, unless you’re trying to change your appearance.

I’ve heard in cold weather states people tan more to counteract the power of depression. I’m not sure what the reason is for us Texans. lol

If a biracial girl is “yellow” it seems as natural as a white woman to tan. My 12 yr old daughter sees me tan in the summer months but she knows it only takes a few days in the michigan summer sun for her shade to darken dramatically. She never wears sunblock nor is she conscious of it even though she is extremely developed for her age. Her skin changes so quickly in fact, that I have been embarrassed when picking her up from a week at summer camp and not recognizing her instantly from a distance. I, on the other hand have to constantly work on my tan, and with age, it seems more difficult to get that honey complexion. I avoid tanning in the winter months just because it seems like a bit much for your skin to be exposed all year every year. Ive noticed that white women in warmer states get massive amounts of freckles (mostly on their chest and shoulders) that almost become like skin blotches from over exposure. My daughter on the other hand gets chocolatey even though she never actually lays out! I’ve been told that she still needs sunscreen although she doesn’t burn…what do you think?

There are very light coloured girls here who do tan but I think its more of the act than actually trying to tan you know?

But for the most part people of other colours here tend to cover up when the son comes out!

My oldest daughter likes to tan…she likes her body darker than her face…so, if she’s sunning her front she keeps her face shaded…Don’t ask me why she likes it…she’s the darkest of the three without the sun…but I have noticed she has more dark friends than the other two…and youngest (who looks as if she could be mixed with Mexican) has more Mexican friends…maybe it’s their desire to look more like who they relate to??? I dunno…
Curiously, my oldest is proud of her tan lines…I don’t know what that’s about…
