Last month I had a Modern Single Momma Contest for Mother’s Day. Well I didn’t want to leave out any of the single dad. So I decided to have a Speak Up Single Dad Contest for Father’s Day. I was inspired by a couple single dad’s that I hang out with.
I thought I was being a great dad, but then I met a couple guys that blew my ass out the game. I have 2 friends that have full time custody of their kids. One has 5 kids and the other has 3. The interesting thing about their situation is the mother’s aren’t in the kids life. Both of my friends never look sad. They are 100% happy. I’ve never heard them complain. I’ve never heard them bitch about anything.
The kids are well adjusted. They are funny, expressive, caring and most of all very close to their dad. And I’ll admit that I’ve watched them during the holidays and they aren’t lacking anything. They are well behaved, well dressed, and just all around great kids.
But I realize that there are other great dads out there. Not all of them have their kids 100% of the time, but they love their kids and support them. They teach them to catch a football, climb trees, fish, and pee standing up ( not on windy day). Anyway… you get the idea. I respect single dads, even if I wasn’t one.
So I am giving away a $25 gift card. To their choice of Chili’s, Home Depot, or Walmart. Between those 3, I’m sure a guy can find something he wants or needs.
Contest rules.
- Entries/Nominees must be single dads. Of course right?
- Must have kids. It’s logical, but I have to mention it too.
- Nominee must leave a comment, telling what their favorite single dad moment is.
- That’s it.. Contest is not restricted to interracial daters aka swirl daters.
Contest entries will not be accepted past June 20, 2009 12am. Winner will be announced June 21, 2009, Father’s Day. Winner must claim their prize within 72 hours of announcing the winner or another winner will be announced.

I am a single father and have full custody of my two daughters. When we are together, we are always laughing and having fun. I really enjoy being able to take in all of the milestones in their lives. They just recently learned to ride their bikes. One of my favorite single dad moments was watching my oldest daughter graduate from pre-school. Yes, I did tear up. I’ve always wanted to do something truly great with my life. I realized the other day that I am: I am raising my daughters.
There are so many moments that put a smile on my face. One of the best is when my daughters wake up early and climb into bed with me on the weekends that I have them. Sure, I’d love to sleep in, but seeing their smiling faces and laughing and playing is one of life’s great little rewards.
Great idea! I love hearing from Dads whom I have yet to discover. I’ll keep Tweetin’ this for you…
