It’s Friday and I’m going to keep things on the light side. There are a few lessons to be learned by the following topics. I am only mentioning these topics because of the interracial-ness of the people involved.
The recent death of Gary Coleman was tragic and suspicious. At my age I watched him on Different Strokes and recently on Divorce Court. But as most celebrities die, the vultures seem to swarm. Gary Coleman is no different. His ex-wife and ex-girlfriend (both white) are both involved in this post-life legal dispute. They are fighting over his funeral/memorial plans and his estate. And the only thing I can say about this is… have a clear and legal will. Spend the money and have a lawyer draft a will. Don’t let greed and fighting cloud your memory among friends and family.
I normally don’t write about gossip, but I read something that once again makes me worry about my favorite NFL team. The Dallas Cowboys. It appears that the teams most popular bi-racial player, Miles Austin is dating a Swirl lover, Kim Kardashian. Kim is still experiencing hater-aide from her pursuit and catch of NFL player Reggie Bush. Personally, I don’t want to see any of the players from my team dating a high profile, high maintenance woman such as Kim Kardashian or Jessica Simpson. I want to see them focused on winning a Super Bowl.
Finally I want to give a shout out to the official Loving Day site. In case you missed it, last Saturday was the 43rd anniversary of the day that the U.S. Supreme Court made interracial marriages legal. The Loving Day Group encourage celebrations, activities, plan events and resources to build a multicultural community. I highly recommend you checking out their site and get involved.
