Dirt Bike Boy – Summer Camp Edition

by Eathan on July 15, 2009

Summer time is a great time for a work-at-home parent.  For me it gives me the chance to spend some extra time with my kids.  We usually get a chance to go swimming, play basketball, movies and even a day at the lake.  But every now and then I get irritated.  As many of you know, I have two ex-wives and I am a co-parenting with both of them.  This summer is full of disarray and frustration.

Black, White Or Both?

by Eathan on July 6, 2009

Lately I’ve had some very interesting and entertaining conversations with my 14 yr old, Alpha Boy.  Alpha Boy will be a high school freshman in the fall.  And like most kids his age, his friends are a big part of his life.  Since he is playing in 2 summer sports leagues, it seems like his social calendar is almost as busy as mine.  The one thing that I’ve noticed is how his perspective on his identity has changed.

The Adventures of Dirt Bike Boy – Truancy Court Update

June 1, 2009

Since the Frisco ISD has calculated 35 truancy offenses, I decided to consult with several lawyer friends. The case seems to be a bit ridiculous to everyone, including some of the school faculty. But since the legal battle has begun, my communication with the school administration has practically come to a complete halt.

Alpha Boy Got Sunburned

May 26, 2009

Alpha Boy is out of school for the summer. The first item on his agenda was to spend the day at Hurricane Harbor (local water park). He decided to go with his cousins and uncle to have some fun in the sun. At the end of the day he text me to say that he was sun burned. I laughed because I have warned him over the last few years about wearing sun block.

Swine Flu Close To Home

April 30, 2009

Everyone is alarmed over the Swine Flu and it’s hitting close to home. The Dallas/Fort Worth area is on high alert. Within the last 24 hours several school districts in the area have closed for the next 7 days. It was shocking to know that one of the schools closing is in a neighboring community.

Modern Single Momma Contest

April 21, 2009

Sometimes I read blogs and blog comments just to get irritated by the ignorance that is displayed. Recently I was reading SingleMomSeeking. I was made aware of a situation that was going on at a smaller site, ModernSingleMomma. It seemed to be a simple difference of opinions from a previous post. The interesting thing is, this difference was discussed openly in the playground of the Internet.

Dirt Bike Boy – Truancy Court Edition

April 7, 2009

Truancy is defined as the act or state of being truant. Truant is defined as a student who stays away from school without permission. As you can guess, Dirt Bike Boy is being labeled as a truant by Frisco ISD and the State of Texas.

March 26, 2009

After a few days of not writing, I have plenty of things to say. As a single dad, I like to read what single moms have to say. One of my regular sites to read is SingleMomSeeking. I recently read about a topic that got under my skin.

What Happened In Here?

March 17, 2009

As a divorced parent, I end up dealing with issues that I would’ve never imagined. Recently I’ve stayed at Dirt Bike Boy’s house while his mother is traveling for business. That seemed to be a simple solution to a problem. It gives him the chance to keep his regular week day routine.

Dirt Bike Boy – Special Edition Update

February 1, 2009

The last month has been a very hectic and stressful. For anyone who hasn’t been keeping up, Dirt Bike Boy has been sick. The most recent episode took me away from writing and work. I was left to focus on him 110%. I’m not complaining, it’s just what parents do when one of their kids are sick.
